Working to realize his childhood dream, Mr. Kishigami opened his own restaurant using his experience in Japanese BBQ and kappo cuisine.
Mr. Kishigami was born in Fukui Prefecture in 1990. Having loved eating and cooking since childhood, he would often prepare meals for his family at home. Dreaming of one day owning his own restaurant, he entered the culinary world. After six years of training at the Japanese restaurant Shiki Yusai Kiyose in Fukui City, he spent three years working at hotels and other establishments, followed by a total of three years training at two Japanese BBQ restaurants. In 2026, he decided to strike out on his own and opened Sumibi Yakiniku Kappo Toto in April. Focusing on charcoal-grilled dishes, he showcases his culinary skills daily at this kappo-style restaurant, which features a blend of meat, fish, and seasonal vegetables.
