Wasai Yakura, located a 10-minute walk from Kamakura Station, is a Japanese restaurant famous as the ''original shirasu bowl'' restaurant.
The menu includes Shonan whitebait freshly harvested in the morning, fresh Kamakura vegetables, and seasonal seafood delivered directly from Misaki Fishing Port. ''Yakura specialty kamaage shirasu bowl'', which uses Shonan whitebait of the highest quality and freshness, is a popular dish. Housed in the remodeled barn of a kominka (Japanese traditional house), they offer around 200 different wines, from light ones to full-bodied wines. Their collection focuses mainly on natural wines. They serve a number of dishes based on traditional French cuisine to go with their wine. Fresh vegetables procured directly from farms and the daily catch from fishermen in the Miura Peninsula are used, but sometimes, you can find Japanese ingredients like soft-shelled turtles in the line-up.
