From Akita to Morioka, Mr. Kuwahara walks the path of the chef with charcoal fire as his focus.
Mr. Kuwahara was born in Akita in 1983, he worked part-time at a Japanese sake and yakitori grilled chicken restaurant in Morioka when he was a student. After graduating, he spent about ten years learning a wide range of skills - from cooking techniques to running restaurants - under the head chef there. At age 30, he opened his own restaurant, Akita Ekimae Bar Gurantan, in Akita. After building strong connections with locals in the area, he expanded to Morioka, launching Morioka Kaiun Sakaba GURANTAN. Currently, he continues to run both locations in Akita and Iwate, with both restaurants loved by their communities.
