From the chef
Mr. Teruya became more interested in Okinawan cuisine through his experience with cooking and customer service.
Mr. Teruya was born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1996. His desire to become a chef was sparked by part-time jobs at izakayas and Okinawan restaurants in the prefecture. He learned cooking techniques and how to handle ingredients from the ground up at establishments serving Okinawan cuisine. In April 2026, he was approached by the owner to join the team when Minyo Live Izakaya Akabana opened. He currently continues to hone his culinary skills while energizing the restaurant as both a chef and a live performer.
