From Akita to Morioka, Mr. Kuwahara has built his career as a chef around charcoal grilling.
Mr. Kuwahara was born in 1983 in Akita, and began working part-time at a sake and grilled chicken restaurant in Morioka when he was a student. After graduating, he spent around ten years working under the restaurant's owner, learning everything from cooking techniques to restaurant management. At age 30, he struck out on his own and opened GURANTAN, cultivating strong connections with the local community. Later, he expanded his operations to Morioka and launched Morioka Kaiun Sakaba Gurantan. Today, he continues to run both locations in Akita and Iwate, making both restaurants cherished by their communities.
