Area Map
The symbol of the Nagoya Castle built by the Tokugawas (the shogun family) more than 400 years ago, is the pair of the "golden dolphins" (mythical sea creatures) on the top of the donjon. The donjon was rebuilt after WW2. With an elevator installed now, anybody can go up to the top of the main building of the castle. Inside the donjon are an exhibit hall and a reference room where you can learn the situation inside the castle and the life of people back to the Edo Period. The top floor is an observation deck where you will have a 360 degree view of the city of Nagoya. There are also a Japanese garden with a full of beautiful flowers throughout the four seasons and an elegant tea house inside the castle, so take your time to experience and enjoy the castle.
