The prestigious Osu Kannon Temple is one of the three most famous Kannon temples in Japan. The temple is in possession of many valuable cultural assets including national treasures. However, the temple precincts welcome visitors with an open and lively atmosphere. You can freely come and feel the atmosphere. That is why the temple has long been popular among local people and attracts many visitors. The temple is especially crowded with many people when antique markets are held on 8th and 18th days of every month.
After you visit Osu Kannon, you should go to the Monzenmachi shopping district. It used to be a shopping district with traditional atmosphere, but now there are many new unique shops. You will immediately feel comfortable with the open and friendly atmosphere of the town.
